Spring Details
As I am writing this, I am sitting in my car at a park with the windows rolled down. It rained a few hours earlier, so the air smells crisp and fresh. There is a gentle wind blowing and moving the trees and plants. Dead and decaying leaves from winter are being blown away, and new growth is bursting forth. Early spring flowers are bringing new color, where once only brown ruled.
I find it very fitting that today I am writing about the Holy Spirit. Just as the wind is removing dead and decaying rubble, the Holy Spirit came into my life blowing away all that didn’t belong to God, and brought Truth. Sometimes He felt like a hurricane and yet, other times a gentle breeze.
The Bible says that the Holy Spirit reminds us of the things of God, the Word, the truth; He brings these to our remembrance so our choices and responses line up with God’s. We live in a world that tries to claim that the Holy Spirit is not real, and yet, just like the wind, His presence is still here. He has not abandoned us, and we are never alone. For an individual to claim that He does not exist only proves that they are blind.
The evidence of the Holy Spirit is found in every believer who receives Christ as Lord and Savior. He is a gift given by God, and through Him, He reveals our status as God’s sons and daughters. When He is in us, satan has no authority to say we do not belong to God. The Holy Spirit is the visible sign of the covenant between God the Father and us, and He leads us in truth so that we remain in relationship with the Father.
Take time today to see if you have been ignoring the Holy Spirit, if you have been limiting His power and authority, or living as if you are alone. Repent, and begin living today following the Holy Spirit.
Heavenly Father, so many churches and believers claim that the Holy Spirit is just a symbol, that He isn’t You. But, You claim He is part of You, that He is real, and He is given to us as a gift. Forgive us for limiting Him, for not listening to His warnings and leadings, and for refusing to take the time to let our spirit fellowship with Him. Today, we choose to let Him work in our lives, to speak what You have given Him to speak, and we acknowledge our need for Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
