Father God

How many times have I come to my Father God, but have already judged His character by what others say?

How many times have I missed opportunities to see my Father work in my life because the ways I view Him have been shaped by others instead of my personal relationship with Him?

We live in a world that is continually trying to tell us who God is; so many times we fail to go deeper in our relationship with Him and instead view our relationship from other’s eyes.  Many people judge me.  Read either of my books, and there’s an endless list of reasons to choose from.  But, when people get to know me and form a personal friendship with me, they see my heart and my joy, and their opinion of me changes.

As God’s children, we need a personal relationship with Him.  We need to view Him not as others say He is, but through our own personal experience of relationship with Him.  One that is grounded in truth, the Bible, and not distorted by culture, (even culture within the church that is in error to the Word).

The world is in desperate need of the Father, and we should be proclaiming to them that they need a personal relationship with Him and to stop basing their decisions and beliefs on what others say.  Yet, we can’t be hypocritical and live the same way they do.  We need to protect our relationship with Him and go desperately after Him.

Today, ask God to search your heart for areas you have believed about Father God based on other’s opinions that are not true.  Line everything up to what God says about Himself in the Bible, and then through a personal relationship begin to ask God to reveal Himself to you.  Repeat for any beliefs about Him that are false, and then begin to fill your mind with the truth about Him.

He loves you so extravagantly.  Don’t miss any more opportunities of intimacy with your Father.

Heavenly Father, forgive us for looking at You through the world’s eyes, which are flawed and motivated in ungodliness.  Remove every belief, thought, and lie that is contrary to the Word (Bible).  Break off every spirit of deception that would want to control us from entering into relationship with You, in Jesus’ name.  Reveal Yourself to us, Father.  Show us who You are in a deep and loving way.  We desire to know You personally.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
